‘Tinpot dictatorship’: BJP after Bengal minister threatens employees demanding DA hike

By Anirban Sinha Roy: BJP’s IT-cell chief Amit Malviya slammed the West Bengal government under Mamata Banerjee after a video of TMC minister Ujjal Biswas threatening employees demanding a hike in dearness allowance surfaced online.

Amit Malviya said Bengal, under Mamata Banerjee, resembles a tinpot dictatorship where violence and annihilation of dissenting voices is now a norm.

“The state has seen the most horrific post-poll violence, several instances of rape and murder, state-sponsored communal riots and worse,” the BJP leader said in a tweet.

In a video Malviya shared on Twitter, minister Ujjal Biswas, an MLA from Krishnanagar Dakshin, was heard threatening employees who were demanding a hike in their DA during a public meeting of the TMC.

“They come to school, don’t work but still get salaries. Want to showcase your demonstration before the public? Don’t worry, we (the West Bengal government) are prepared to ensure that you can’t protest against us. We will rip out your tongue if you speak ill of Mamata Banerjee. That will be the norm from now on,” Biswas was heard saying.
