Congress Rajasthan chief takes potshots at Sachin Pilot, says rebellion within party before pandemic as well

By Dev Ankur Wadhawan: Rajasthan’s Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on Saturday, took potshots at former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. Upon being asked about Pilot’s remark about the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) that was scheduled to take place in September 2022 but was called off, the state unit chief said there was “rebellion before Covid-19” as well.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with Rajasthan Assembly speaker Dr CP Joshi on Saturday, Randhawa said, “Some people say that there was rebellion earlier as well before Corona. I say that we should not harp upon the past, we should look at the future. We should learn our lessons as well from the past.”

In political circles, Randhawa’s remarks were seen as a clear reference to the build-up to Sachin Pilot’s open rebellion against incumbent Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s leadership in 2020.

This came after Sachin Pilot, a few days ago, trained guns on his party’s officials, including Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, in connection with the series of paper leaks that jolted Rajasthan.

“Earlier, it was said that no official leader was involved in the paper leak. Today, an RPSC official was caught. I have said in Nagaur that catching hold of small people is good, but bigger fishes are required to be caught. It is important to find out how he became a member,” Pilot had said.

“I was surprised (by the party in charge’s statement). Raising a voice against corruption during the Vasundhara Raje regime cannot be an anti-party activity,” Pilot said.
