By Abdul Basheer: A 6-year-old boy died after falling into an open drain while playing in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada on Friday. The boy was playing in front of his house in Gurunanak Colony of the city when he slipped and fell into the drain.
“Due to the heavy rains for the last two days, there was a strong flow of water in the drain, and there is no cover on the drain. The Municipal Corporation also did not pay much attention, due to which he got washed away,” said a relative of the boy.
The relatives immediately informed the police and municipal officials, who launched a search operation in the drain. After several hours of search, the body of the child was recovered in Bharti Nagar, nearly one kilometer away from the incident spot.
The body was later sent to the hospital for postmortem.
